Solving the Problem

My selected opportunity is a Vegan Dating App, which would also include vegetarians. I'm still thinking of a name, but I want it to be catchy and compelling. I thought of this idea because as a college students, I can see and understand how common it is for my peers to use dating apps like bumble and tinder. As a vegan, although I'm not single, I have noticed that other vegans find it important to have a vegan partner because they share the same values. However, it is quite difficult to bring up into conversation for many reasons. Many vegans have a very strong belief system that could lead to the friends they choose to surround themselves with, the connections they build, and the potential partner they could see a future with.

I believe that a dating app that helps bring potential vegan partners together is a great opportunity. It would be pretty simple and similar to other dating apps. To sign up, it would ask a series of questions (Name, age, gender, how long you’ve been a vegan or vegetarian, gender preference, to write a description about yourself, and add a picture, etc.). Then, the app would find potential partners and present them to the user, where they could then decide whether they’re interested and who they would like to converse with.

  1. Hello Ariel,

I think some interesting information to include about potential partners is what they’re favorite vegan food is and how they became vegan in the first place. As for the name, it should definitely be something vegan-culture related that makes it stand out, I can’t really think of something since I’m not part of that community though!

  2. Hey Ariel,

I myself am vegetarian and my parents are vegan, and it definitely is something that can be difficult to bring up in conversation. Some people will for sure find comfort in knowing that a potential future partner shares similar values as them in terms of diet. You could have a lot of fun with this and make it very cute and easy going. You could also have a lot of fun and creative freedom with the questions you could ask / the ones in the bio as you mentioned

  3. Ariel, I think this is a particularly interesting concept mostly because I have personally seen in my friends how difficult it can be for a vegan to be friends/partners with someone who is not even a vegetarian. This is because it is difficult to agree on where to eat, what groceries to buy, and if someone is vegan/vegetarian for moral reasons, they may feel like their partner who isn't is disrespectful towards their beliefs. A dating app can help foster healthy relationships amongst likeminded people.

  4. Hi Ariel,

That's very an interesting idea. And I could really see that working out. I feel that many vegans probably do think the way you described. It can be a very hot topic between peers and can lead to an argument and even mocking. But as you said, this is a place that would virtually eliminate that for people seeking a romantic relationship with someone who shares the same belief.
